Branding.

  • Nutrition/information-heavy examples.

  • Spot colors.
  • White ink.
  • Foil layer.
  • Dieline.
  • Overprint notes.
  • print-ready organization.

Visual.

  • Information hierarchy.
  • Finish.

SKU system.
White ink.
Premium hierarchy.
Foil/Spot layer.

  1. Hero mockup.
  2. Brief
  3. Flat artwork.
  4. Detail.
  5. System/variants.
  6. Production note.
  7. Actual photo أو mockup ثانوي.
  8. Role/Credits.

Flat artwork

  • Front.
  • Back.
  • Wrap.
  • Panel.

  • Batch numbers
  • Supplier confidential marks.
  • Regulatory data

Flat artwork

  • Hierarchy.
  • Typography.
  • Spacing.
  • Content density.
  • Barcode placement.
  • Bilingual balance.

Dieline

  • Safe area.
  • Bleed.
  • fold.
  • seam.
  • non-print areas.

Caption: Artwork adapted to supplier dieline; structural engineering by manufacturer.

Dieline.

Role Label design / production artwork / mockups.

Role Visual direction + label layout. Dieline supplied by printer. Copy supplied by client.

SKU system

Fixed

  • Logo.
  • Product category.
  • Net weight.
  • barcode zone.

Variable

  • Flavor.
  • ingredient image.
  • color.
  • code.

Bilingual packaging specialist.

  • Arabic/English front.
  • Mixed numerals.
  • ingredient list.
  • right-to-left / left-to-right balance.
  • version comparison.

Arabic and English share the same hierarchy but use independent spacing rather than mirrored line-for-line formatting.

Production Details

  • CMYK.
  • Spot white.
  • Foil.
  • Varnish.
  • CutContour.
  • Safe margins.

Caption: Technical layers shown for portfolio explanation; final production limits follow converter specifications.

Mockup / visualization.

Final packaging in stores.

Conceptual visualization

Watermarked source.

Hero render + actual print detail.

Final.

Case study

Decision 3

Outcome

Decision:

  • Flavor name moved to dedicated band.
  • distinct secondary colors.
  • same product category position.

Outcome: "One master structure developed across three SKUs."

Sales deck.

  • Increased sales 35%.
  • Improved shelf visibility 2×.
  • Customers loved it.
  • Market-leading design.

  • Improved type contrast.
  • Reduced number of competing text levels.
  • Created 6 SKU variants.
  • Added bilingual hierarchy.
  • Separated finishing layers.

Premium.

Navigation:

  • Packaging.
  • Labels.
  • Brand Identity.
  • Print.
  • About.
  • Contact.

  • Food.
  • Beverage.
  • Cosmetics.
  • Technical.
  • About.

Thumbnail

Thumbnail

  • Pack hero.
  • label crop.
  • strong color.
  • clear product.

  • Margin.

Behance

  • RGB.
  • JPEG/PNG.

Screenshot.

  • Responsive images.
  • WebP/AVIF
  • Lazy loading.
  • dimensions.
  • thumbnails.

  • Offline.

Project:

  • Hero.
  • Flat.
  • Detail.
  • Role.

  • links.
  • file size.
  • mobile.
  • sharpness.

Email.

About:

  • Tools.
  • Contact.

I can design anything imaginable

Packaging and label designer focused on bilingual product systems, print-ready artwork, and production-conscious visual identity.

Contact

Start a project

  • Email.
  • Brief.
  • WhatsApp إذا تستخدمه.
  • Website.

  • Logo.
  • Packaging.
  • Prototype.
  • Copy.

Concept projects:

  • Front/back.
  • ingredient area.
  • dieline.
  • mockup.
  • system.

  • Technical label.
  • Automotive.
  • Chemical.
  • Food.

Instagram Best Nine.

  • Relevance.
  • Visual quality.
  • Technical depth.
  • Process clarity.
  • Uniqueness.
  • Real/Concept balance.
  • Image quality.

  • Hero
  • Flat artwork.

  • Actual/mockup status.
  • Bilingual if relevant.
  • Production layer if relevant.
  • Credits.
  • Client permission.
  • No fake result.
  • No confidential data.

A label designer’s portfolio needs to prove more than the ability to choose an attractive mockup. A founder, manufacturer, design agency, or print partner wants evidence that you can handle a restricted label area, dense information, bilingual copy, barcode zones, dielines, materials, finishing, SKU variation, and the transition from visual concept to production-conscious artwork.

The strongest label portfolio therefore does not only show the “best-looking image.” It shows thinking + flat artwork + application + the boundaries of your actual role.

Adobe’s portfolio guidance consistently emphasizes choosing the strongest and most relevant work for your goal and adding enough context to explain the project, challenge, role, and process rather than presenting final images alone. That is especially useful for label design because much of the skill is hidden inside details a single 3D mockup cannot show.

Decide who you want to hire you before selecting work

A portfolio targeting:

  • food manufacturers
  • branding agencies
  • cosmetics companies
  • printers
  • small freelance clients

should not be identical.

If you want more food packaging: show:

  • honey
  • olive oil
  • spices
  • rice
  • beverages
  • information-heavy labels

If you want cosmetics: show:

  • serum
  • cream
  • soap
  • fragrance
  • small containers with dense text

If you want prepress-oriented work: show:

  • spot colors
  • white ink
  • foil layers
  • dielines
  • overprint decisions
  • organized production artwork

Adobe recommends defining your portfolio goal and intended audience, then choosing work that supports that direction rather than displaying everything you have ever made.

Quality before quantity

Ten strong projects usually communicate more than thirty-five average ones.

“Strong” does not mean only beautiful.

A strong project can demonstrate:

  • a different problem
  • different container geometry
  • different production skill
  • SKU system
  • multilingual hierarchy
  • dense information management
  • finishing technique

A useful eight-project mix might include:

  1. olive oil bottle label — narrow surface
  2. spice pouch — SKU system
  3. tahini jar — contrast against product color
  4. serum — dense small-format information
  5. transparent label — white ink
  6. premium tea — hierarchy
  7. Arabic/English product — bilingual layout
  8. production-focused label — foil or spot layer

This collection says: “I can solve several types of label problem.”

Do not start every project with multiple mockups

A practical project sequence:

  1. Hero mockup
  2. short brief
  3. flat artwork
  4. detail
  5. variant system
  6. production note
  7. real photo or secondary mockup
  8. role and credits

The hero attracts attention. The flat proves the design. The detail proves care. The production note proves technical awareness.

If a project contains only four mockups of the same label, viewers can judge presentation skill but not necessarily whether the underlying artwork is production-ready.

Flat artwork is the core proof in a label portfolio

Show clean flat views:

  • front
  • back
  • wrap layout
  • information panel

But do not publish confidential information:

  • private batch numbers
  • sensitive supplier marks
  • real internal codes when not permitted
  • data the client has not approved for public release

Use safe replacements or controlled blurring when necessary and permitted.

Flat artwork exposes:

  • hierarchy
  • typography
  • spacing
  • density
  • barcode location
  • bilingual balance

Those qualities are often hidden by a dramatic mockup.

Show a dieline crop, not necessarily the entire technical source file

A controlled dieline view can demonstrate:

  • label boundaries
  • safe area
  • bleed
  • seam
  • non-print zones
  • relationship to container

You do not need to distribute a complete manufacturer file or confidential technical notes.

Use a cropped diagram or your own simplified explanation.

Caption example: Artwork adapted to supplier dieline; structural engineering supplied by manufacturer.

That statement accurately defines your role.

Do not write: Packaging structure design if you only placed artwork onto a supplied structure.

State your role in one line

For each project:

Role
Label design / production artwork / mockups

or:

Role
Visual direction + label layout. Dieline supplied by printer. Copy supplied by client.

This is important in collaborative work.

Adobe’s portfolio guidance encourages creators to explain their specific contributions, tools, and design decisions so reviewers know what they actually did.

Show the SKU system

Labels rarely exist as single isolated objects.

If you designed six flavors, show them together.

Then explain:

Fixed

  • logo
  • product category
  • net weight location
  • barcode zone

Variable

  • flavor name
  • ingredient image
  • color
  • code

This demonstrates system thinking.

Do not rely on color alone. Product or flavor naming should remain clear.

One system board can communicate more than six nearly identical mockups.

Show real Arabic/English work if bilingual design is a service

Do not simply write: Bilingual packaging specialist.

Show:

  • Arabic/English front panel
  • mixed numerals
  • ingredient or product information block
  • RTL/LTR balance
  • version comparison

A useful note might say: Arabic and English share the same information hierarchy but use independent spacing rather than mirrored line-for-line formatting.

That is evidence.

You do not need to claim that you serve every country simply because the label uses two languages.

Include at least one technical-production project

A strong label portfolio benefits from a project page called: Production Details

Possible elements:

  • CMYK
  • spot white
  • foil layer
  • varnish
  • cut contour
  • safe margins

But do not invent production tolerances.

Caption: Technical layers shown for portfolio explanation; final production limits follow converter specifications.

Avoid presenting a trapping or minimum-line value as your universal rule for every printer.

Use mockups as visualization, not evidence of manufacturing

If the product was actually printed: show real photography.

If it was not: label the image: Mockup / visualization

Do not put a photorealistic render into the portfolio and write: Final packaging in stores when the project was never produced.

Conceptual visualization is legitimate when described honestly.

Also review mockup licensing:

  • portfolio use allowed?
  • attribution required?
  • commercial showcase allowed?
  • may you modify it?

Do not distribute the PSD itself.

Real print photography is valuable when available

Actual photography proves:

  • substrate behavior
  • edges
  • gloss
  • application
  • physical size

Even if the real sample photograph is less “perfect” than the render, it can be stronger evidence.

A good combination: Hero render + actual print detail.

Do not retouch the real sample until it becomes a different product.

If the image shows a preliminary test print, label it: Print test rather than final production.

Give each project a compact case study

You do not need a long essay inside every portfolio entry.

Use:

Challenge
Two sentences.

Decision
Three bullets.

Outcome
Only what can be supported.

Example:

Challenge: “Three variants shared the same base color, making flavor identification weak.”

Decision:

  • dedicated flavor band
  • secondary color coding
  • consistent category placement

Outcome: “One master structure developed across three SKUs.”

That is enough to show thinking.

Adobe’s case-study and portfolio guidance emphasizes descriptions that explain goals, challenges, role, approach, and final result rather than image-only presentation.

Never invent results

A label portfolio is not a speculative sales deck.

Avoid unsupported claims:

  • Sales increased 35%
  • Shelf visibility doubled
  • Customers loved it
  • Market-leading design

Instead use directly observable outcomes:

  • increased type contrast
  • reduced competing text levels
  • created six SKU variants
  • built bilingual hierarchy
  • separated production layers

These claims can be checked against the project.

Curate order strategically

Do not sort only by date.

Lead with your strongest two projects that match the type of work you want.

Then include:

  • technical project
  • flexible system
  • premium project
  • bilingual project
  • one different category

Finish strong as well.

Do not open with your best piece and then ask the viewer to scroll through twenty weak projects.

Organize the portfolio home page by useful categories

Adobe Portfolio supports custom pages, galleries, and layouts intended to showcase creative work, and it can synchronize projects with Behance.

A broad navigation might be:

  • Packaging
  • Labels
  • Brand Identity
  • Print
  • About
  • Contact

A specialized label portfolio could instead use:

  • Food
  • Beverage
  • Cosmetics
  • Technical
  • About

Do not create twelve nearly empty categories.

Organization should make relevant work easier to find.

Thumbnails should distinguish projects

A strong project thumbnail can use:

  • package hero
  • label crop
  • distinctive color
  • clear product form

Do not make every thumbnail the same white bottle mockup at the same angle if projects become impossible to tell apart.

At the same time, keep:

  • consistent aspect ratio
  • controlled margins
  • repeatable image treatment

Consistency does not require identical thumbnails.

Behance image preparation

Behance currently displays project images at 1400 px wide in the main Project View and up to 2800 px in Lightbox, and recommends images at 2800 px wide or smaller and generally 10 MB or less.

Export:

  • RGB
  • JPEG/PNG
  • readable text scale
  • sensible compression

Do not put the full flat label with 8 pt copy inside one giant board and then shrink it until no one can read the detail.

Split the information into multiple images.

Your own website needs performance discipline

A portfolio containing 8 MB images on every project proves one thing: the viewing experience was not considered.

Use:

  • responsive images
  • WebP/AVIF where appropriate
  • lazy loading
  • explicit dimensions
  • optimized thumbnails

Keep full-resolution masters offline or in your project archive.

A client needs enough quality to judge your work. They do not need to download fifty megabytes to see that a label uses red.

Create a PDF portfolio version

PDF is useful for:

  • direct sending
  • offline review
  • interviews
  • clients who prefer files over links

Create a focused PDF, not an archive of every project.

Each project might use:

  • hero
  • flat
  • detail
  • role
  • brief text

Adobe’s guidance for graphic-design portfolio PDFs emphasizes selecting relevant work, structuring projects logically, using short case studies, checking links, and keeping file size manageable.

Review the PDF on both desktop and phone.

Do not email a 300 MB file.

Keep About concise

An About page can include:

  • name
  • specialization
  • types of project
  • relevant location/working scope
  • core tools
  • contact

Link to a full CV separately.

If you want label-design work, a focused sentence may be more useful than: I can design anything imaginable.

For example: Packaging and label designer focused on bilingual product systems, print-ready artwork, and production-conscious visual identity.

Then the portfolio proves the claim.

Make contact obvious

Do not hide your contact information in tiny footer text.

Use: Start a project

  • email
  • project brief
  • WhatsApp where appropriate
  • website

If you have a structured brief, make it the primary route.

Do not force a potential client through twenty questions just to discover whether you are available.

Get client permission before publishing

Before uploading:

  • logo
  • product name
  • package
  • prototype
  • copy

ask:

  • Can this be published?
  • When can it be published?
  • What must remain private?
  • Can the client name be shown?
  • Can my role be described publicly?

Pre-launch packaging is often confidential.

Do not damage client trust just to update the portfolio earlier.

Concept projects are useful when labeled honestly

If you need to demonstrate cosmetics-label skills but do not yet have a suitable commercial project, create a strong self-initiated concept.

Label it: Self-initiated concept

Explain:

  • brand is fictional
  • product data is hypothetical
  • no commercial result is claimed

Concept work is better than disguising a fictional project as client work.

Raise the execution standard:

  • front/back
  • information panel
  • dieline application
  • mockup
  • variant system

Do not stop at logo + jar.

Real technical work can be more persuasive than an empty luxury concept

An industrial label with dense information may demonstrate:

  • hierarchy
  • production skill
  • safety awareness
  • bilingual layout
  • print constraints

more effectively than a minimal perfume label with three words.

Show the work you want to receive.

A portfolio is not an Instagram “best nine.”

Its real question is: Can you solve my project?

Review the portfolio every few months

Ask:

  • Does this project still represent my current level?
  • Are the images good enough?
  • Is my role clear?
  • Do I want more work like this?
  • Is another project redundant?
  • Is an important production skill missing?

Remove older average work when a stronger project replaces it.

Adobe describes portfolios as evolving representations of creative skills rather than static records.

A private scoring method for curation

Score each project internally on:

  • relevance
  • visual quality
  • technical depth
  • process clarity
  • uniqueness
  • real/concept balance
  • image quality

Do not show the scores publicly.

Use them for selection.

A project with 10/10 visual style but weak label evidence may not lead the portfolio.

A project with 8/10 visuals and 10/10 production detail may be essential.

Label-project checklist

Each major project should ideally have:

  • clear hero
  • flat artwork
  • role
  • challenge
  • system
  • several useful details
  • real-photo/mockup status

Final takeaway

A label designer portfolio is not a collection of your best mockups. It is evidence that you can solve label problems. Show flat artwork, information hierarchy, SKU logic, bilingual handling, dielines, and production layers when those are genuinely part of your role. Use mockups to attract attention and real print samples to increase credibility. Label concept work honestly. Most importantly, curate projects that represent the kind of work you want to receive next, because a portfolio does not only document your past — it actively shapes the next brief a client sends you.
